Overlapping HTML elements such as images and colored box is quite easy. One of the technique used in this tutorial is through z-index.

What is a Z-Index?

Z-index is an property in CSS and has been included in CSS because people asked for an property with the possibility to make HTML elements overlap. Overlapping HTML elements can have a lot of advantages. You can make the important parts of your website fall out from the background some more.

How to use Z-index?

Z-index uses values to identify which element is more important then the other. The default value is 0. Usually, I give the item that should be on top value 20, the less important 10 and the least important item 1.

It doesn’t really matter which numbers you give to the Z-index. The only thing you should remember is that your top item should have to highest value. But adding Z-index to items isn’t enough to make things work.

CSS example above will brought images that are not working and not overlapping at each other as we want.

However, by simply adding position:absolute; , will get your desired effects.

Adding background images to your form fields can be easily accomplished with CSS and should only be use in few situation because they can make it harder for the user to understand the meaning of it, but on the other hand a well picked image can add useful feature to the look of your forms.

Adding images to your form fields using CSS is very simple. The CSS code can be written like these below:

However, using this method without specifying the sub class will make all the form input fields having images. To solve this problem, we should declare it as a sub class instead.

}

Using this useful technique, you may add an image to each form fields to indicate the meaning of the form fields such as ‘lock picks’ for password and ‘human image’ for username.

Hey, i found these two great sites which have neat and clean designs. Guess what? They came from the same designer, which i think could move on to a bright future in website development and design.

One of his website, Loon Design uses attractive color blend in texts, background and nice images. While the other site, ThemeTation only uses dark colors, and still looks neat and eye-catching! Also most of his posts received many feedbacks. A combination of great design and quality post!
